When you've been around the NBA for 20 years, it's pretty hard not to put up some big numbers. After a while, they just start to accumulate.

When you're one of the best players in the history of the league, and you've been around for 20 years, things start to get really impressive. That's what's happened with Kevin Garnett, who is on the verge of breaking a major, major rebounding record.

From Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press:

Of course, it's possible that once KG passes Malone, he may not hold the defensive-rebounding record for long. With Duncan less than 400 behind him and looking like he's going to be able to play until he's 65 years old, it's supremely possible the Spurs big man passes Garnett at some point down the line. But this is really an incredible record to hold. When—not if—he gets there, he deserves for us to make it a big deal.

Garnett grabbed three defensive rebounds Monday against the Los Angeles Clippers. He now has 11,402 for his career, which is second behind Karl Malone (11,406). San Antonio's Tim Duncan is third (11,036).

"When I hear it, it's like holy -- crap," Garnett said after Monday's shootaround. "I can't believe that; it's a lot."

Garnett could surpass Malone on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Garnett said his "dope milestones" will be fodder, for instance, when he's sitting at a summer barbecue with friend and former Boston and Brooklyn teammate Paul Pierce.

"We talk a lot of trash to each other about dumb stuff," Garnett said. "I think it's dope to come into this league, to have aspirations to want to be something in this league. (Then) leave your mark in this league says a lot not only about your work ethic, but your talent and what you were able to become."
