Kendrick Perkins to miss 2-3 months with pectoral injury

A career-high-tying 43 points from Anthony Davis wasn't enough to get the Pelicans their first win of the season against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, and injuries are undoubtedly the reason why.

New Orleans has been decimated in the early part of the season, and with a record of 0-5, are digging themselves quite the hole in the Western Conference standings.

Things were so bad that the Pelicans were forced to start Kendrick Perkins for the first three games of the season, despite the fact that his years as an effective NBA player have long since passed. That won't be an option any longer, however, as Perkins is expected to be out for 2-3 months with a pectoral injury, according to John Reid of NOLA.com.

The loss of Perkins shouldn't even matter, but the fact that the team is sweating it shows that the lack of depth and talent drop-off is somewhat precipitous.
