“Big Dog” Carr actually played the first four seasons of his career wearing #32 for the Hawks. Drafted by the Pistons in 1983, he was traded to the Hawks in June 1984 in exchange for Dan Roundfield. He never played more than 18 minutes a game, stuck behind Kevin Willis and Cliff Levingston.

In 1988-89, he played 19.1 minutes a game, backing up Levingston, Moses Malone and Dominique Wilkins. He paired with Spud Webb and John Battle to create an oddly effective reserve trio. Carr’s mid-range game and general headiness made him capable of playing all three frontcourt positions at a high level. The Hawks won 52 games in ‘88-89, with Carr impacting more than a few of those wins.

After one more season with the Hawks, Carr was traded to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Kenny Smith, and averaged 20 points per game for the next two seasons. He went on to play for the Spurs, Jazz, Rockets, and Grizzlies before retiring after the 2000 season.

Who wore #35 most recently?

Reggie Slater (2002)

A career journeyman, Slater played only four games in Atlanta in 2001. The undrafted free agent from Wyoming played seven seasons in the league, spanning seven cities and two countries. His first shot came with the Denver Nuggets in 1994, which led to three teams taking waivers on him the next year. He found his best professional success with the Toronto Raptors, where he spent 3 seasons and averaged 7 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
