While everyone knows who will be taking part in the game on Sunday Night, NBA All-Star Saturday Night is the most popular night of the weekend. The Skills Challenge, Slam Dunk Contest and 3-point contest own the night. Curry and Thompson owned the contest last year and the latter came away the winner.

With Curry being the most high-profile shooter in the NBA, is he going to return to the contest this year?  It was announced on Thursday night, that Curry has passed on being in the event. With Curry already having won the event in 2015, there was really nothing left for him to prove here.

The good news for Warriors fans is that Klay Thompson will be on the floor defending his title. He’s going to have some great competition with the other best shooters in the league. However, this contest is made for a guy like Thompson’s skill set.

He has the quick release necessary for this event and he’s able to shoot for rhythm in this atmosphere. It’s always the best part of the weekend and it has rivaled the Slam Dunk Contest in recent years. Will he go back-to-back in 2017?
