Despite disappointing season, Hornets see growth in attendance

The 2014-15 season was a big one for the Charlotte Hornets. After all, the team made the transition away from being the Bobcats and back to a moniker that has a bit of tradition behind it. With the rebranding, Charlotte expected an influx of fans new and old.
But the Hornets' struggles on the court put a bit of a damper on those plans, and missing out on the postseason was a significant blow for Charlotte moving forward. GM Rich Cho is well aware of the issue, according to the Charlotte Business Journal.
“We expected to make the playoffs, and we fell short of that goal,” Cho said to reporters at the Hornets' facility. “In talking to all of the players yesterday, I think they shared the disappointment, as well. ... It’s a step back.”
Yet the on-court setbacks couldn't completely overshadow the buzz in Charlotte. Attendance for the Hornets grew 11 percent over the previous season, per the same report.
