Chicago Bulls vs. Las Angeles Lakers Instant Analysis

After one of the most successful circus road trips in team history, the Chicago Bulls fall to Lakers in a close one, 94-90.
The Bulls finally returned to the United Center after a grueling fourteen day road trip.
At the end of the first quarter, it looked like Chicago would cruise to an easy victory. The Baby Lakers just didn’t look like the Baby Lakers without their budding star D’Angelo Russell. Meanwhile, it was Jimmy Butler leading the way for Chicago early. Butler scored 9 points in the first quarter with 6 of the 9 coming via the free-throw line. The Bulls led by eleven and were in complete control of the game.
However, Las Angeles came storming back in the second quartered evened the score by halftime. The Lakers were able to stay in the game even though they were turning the ball over left and right. Not to mention, it doesn’t help that the Bulls were 0-8 from three in the first half.
Despite solid performances from Robin Lopez and Rajon Rondo, the Bulls were unable to stave off the relentless Lakers squad. Lopez was a force at the rim defensively tallying eight blocks. Rondo, on the other hand, played one his better games of the season.
At many times during the year, Rondo has looked like a complete disaster. Tonight, it was a much different Rajon Rondo. He simply looked much more comfortable running the offense than he has most of the season.
This is a game that Chicago really should have won especially after jumping out to such a commanding lead. If the Bulls want to be in the conversation as one of the elite teams in the East they can’t afford losses like this.
Chicago is now 10-7 and they will get ready for a tough matchup against the Cavs Saturday night.
