Paul Pierce has a sprained left foot.

The Celtics All-Star, who injured his foot in a win against Washington on Monday night, was feared to have a broken foot.

However, sources close to the situation told FOXSports.com that after being examined by team doctor Brian McKeon, it was determined that Pierce suffered a sprained mid-foot and is day-to-day.

The Celtics later confirmed that Pierce has a sprained foot.

Pierce left Monday's game late in the first quarter, but returned midway through the second quarter and finished the half. He then collided for the second time with Caron Butler and both players limped off the floor.

Pierce started the third quarter, but was replaced and sat out the fourth quarter.

Pierce, 32, is averaging 18.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game this season.
