Celtics' Isaiah Thomas credits Tom Brady for teaching him this ridiculous pass

In the closing minute of the Boston Celtics' 96-88 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night, Boston point guard Isaiah Thomas found himself trapped by multiple Hornets defenders in the backcourt with no easy means of escape.

Rather than try to dribble out of the trap and into a turnover or call a timeout, however, Thomas chose the path less traveled, throwing a ridiculous over-his-head pass over both defenders right to teammate Jae Crowder for an easy layup:

On Saturday morning, while perusing his Twitter timeline as one does, Thomas shared that highlight -- and his inspiration for the pass:

Like most Bostonites, Thomas LOVES Tom Brady. Earlier this year, he called the New England Patriots quarterback the "coolest dude" Thomas has ever met (via NESN):

“Coolest dude I’ve ever met. He is just so cool,” Thomas said to 98.5 The Sports Hub. “I was expecting him to be different. A lot of great players are kind of (not very nice). He answered every question I had and a was a fan of mine, too. He was a great dude.

“I asked him about his eating ways, how he’s playing at such a high level at such an older age. He answered every question, had questions for us about basketball, how we go about our days on game day and how we scout other teams. I asked him about when he hikes the ball, ‘What are you looking at?’ He explained it and was very friendly.”
