Boston assigns two hopeful prospects to the D-League

The Boston Celtics are deep at just about every position, but so far that depth has yet to translate to wins. The results? Two guys, James Young and Jordan Mickey, are headed to the D-League.

Young and Mickey are both talented prospects, but neither has any room in Brad Stevens' current rotation. It makes sense to let them develop up in Maine instead of sit on the bench and watch their teammates play.

James Young got pretty familiar with Maine last season, and he's going to get an early taste of it this year as well. Just days after the Celtics announced they picked up his third-year option, James was assigned to their D-League affiliate the Maine Red Claws on Tuesday. He'll be joined by rookie Jordan Mickey.
