Avery Bradley: 'I would love it' if Paul Pierce came back to Boston
Paul Pierce was a Boston Celtic for 15 years before playing one season with each the Brooklyn Nets and Washington Warriors over the last two.
The future Hall of Famer will hit free agency come July 1 and Celtics shooting guard Avery Bradley says he wants his former teammate back in green.
“I would love it if he came back here,” Bradley told 98.5 The Sports Hub on Monday (h/t to NESN's Mike Cole). “To me, Paul is always going to be a Boston Celtic. The things he was able to accomplish over his time here, they were just amazing. I’m sure all the Boston fans would love that as well.”
He continued.
“Paul is Boston Celtics’ culture,” he said. “One thing that Brad Stevens is able to do, that same culture we had when (former head coach Doc Rivers) was here, it’s (still here); you go out and leave it all out on the floor for your teammates. If he came back it would be the same, and that’s the kind of player Paul is anyways. He plays hard every game.”
Pierce played a major role for the Wizards this past season, averaging 11.9 points on 45-39-78 shooting while starting 73 games. He's still Mr. Clutch, if not more now than he's ever been. During Washington's six-game second-round series loss to the Hawks, the Wizards' final possession ended with a Pierce shot four times. He made three of those attempts (though the one which went in during Game 6 was disallowed since the ball was on his fingertips as the buzzer sounded).
