An NBA player almost didn't get his chance due to screened phone call
Utah's Erick Green signed a 10-day contract with the Jazz on Tuesday afternoon. But he almost didn't find out about his new job because he screens his telephone calls.
"I found out late last night, like 10:30 or something. I didn't answer the phone for the first two calls because I don't answer the phone if I don't know your number. That's just how I always am. I didn't answer it. My agent called me. He was like: 'Answer your phone. Utah is calling.' So I answered it real fast then. I picked up the phone. They told me they were excited to have me. I couldn't even sleep last night ... Just so excited to be here."
Green, 24, played 46 games with one start during two seasons with the Denver Nuggets. There, he averaged 3.2 points per game before he was waived on November 5. Green was also part of the trade that landed Utah star center Rudy Gobert on draft night. Watch him tell his unique story about re-joining the Jazz, below.
