Against popular belief, Knicks didn't lose J.R. Smith/Iman Shumpert trade

If you ask any random basketball fan on the street, they'll probably tell you the Knicks got robbed in the trade they made five months ago which sent J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert to the Cavaliers for some change and a 2019 second-round pick. But those people might be wrong.

Fred Katz outlines exactly why the Knicks made the right decision in pulling off such a deal, and it's not just a contrarian view. Here's a snippet of the piece from Bleacher Report:

Smith and Shumpert have both improved mightily since going to Cleveland, but their roles changed and thus, so did their production. It's hard to say they would be playing this well if they were both still in New York.
