Wally Rogers out as Michael McDowell's crew chief

Published Sep. 4, 2015 11:23 a.m. ET

Leavine Family Racing has announced that Wally Rogers, the crew chief for driver Michael McDowell, is no longer with the organization.

A replacement has not been named.

"We appreciate everything Wally has done for this organization," said team owner Bob Leavine in a team release. "I'm committed to growing this race team and improving our on-track performance. Looking ahead to 2016, we are putting the pieces in place to improve the overall performance of this race team."

McDowell has started 11 of 24 Sprint Cup Series races this season, all with Rogers calling the shots. The team is not entered for this weekend's Bojangles' Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.

Leavine Family Racing will compete at Richmond International Raceway as scheduled next weekend with McDowell driving the No. 95 Ford.
