Updated: Rain expected to impact Friday's NASCAR action in Charlotte

Mother Nature is being a witch again. With a full slate of racing this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the weather is not cooperating at all.

It has rained for most of the morning at the track, where teams are trying to prepare for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and Sprint Showdown tonight, as well as Saturday nights’ NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.

Practice and qualifying for the Truck Series and Sprint Showdown races were both washed out, with NASCAR making the official announcement around 4 p.m. ET. Revised schedules are expected soon. 

As of 4 p.m. Friday, weather.com is calling for a 60 percent chance of showers at the track until 5 p.m., dropping down to 15 percent then before increasing to 65 percent at 9 p.m.

Given that rain has fallen for most of the day, with the heavy stuff still to come, the odds do not favor on-track action today or tonight.

Tonight’s Sprint Showdown is scheduled for 7 p.m., with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at 8:15 p.m. Both will be televised on FS1.

But there is good news. The chance of rain drops to 10 percent at 9 p.m. Saturday night, when the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race is scheduled to run. Again, television coverage will be on FS1. 

NASCAR will have a full fleet of Air Titans on hand at Charlotte and we will update the weather situation frequently throughout the weekend.
