Sprint All-Star Race practice results: Kyle Busch fastest in first practice since injury

The 17 drivers already locked into Saturday night's NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race hit the track Friday afternoon at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the weekend's lone practice session. 

Joe Gibbs Racing's Kyle Busch was fastest in the session, his first time climbing behind the wheel since sustaining injuries in the season-opening XFINITY Series race at Daytona International Speedway in February. 

Busch ran a total of 45 laps during the session, running his best on Lap 44 with a time of 28.589 seconds at 188.884 miles per hour.

Defending race-winner Jamie McMurray was second fastest in the practice session, followed by Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch and Denny Hamlin. 

Stewart-Haas Racing's Kurt Busch had the best 10 consecutive-lap average during the session. 

The final three drivers for Saturday's Sprint All-Star Race will be determined during Friday night's Sprint Showdown (Friday, 7 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1). 

Qualifying to set the field for the Sprint All-Star Race will take place Friday, 7 p.m. ET and can be seen on FOX Sports 1.
