Said to drive for Red Bull at Watkins Glen

Boris Said will drive the No. 83 Red Bull Racing Toyota in the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen International Aug. 8.
“He’s better than the best available,” said Jay Frye, Red Bull Racing Team vice president and general manager. “He’s a phenomenal talent and an even better guy. He’s been close to winning one of these things in the past. We have great history with him, and we have high expectations with him in the car.”
The 47-year-old Said has made five Cup starts this year for owner Bill Jenkins, his best finish an eighth-place effort at Sonoma.
Said, a noted road-course specialist, takes over the car originally driven by Brian Vickers this season. Vickers is sidelined for the remainder of the year with health issues and Casey Mears, Mattias Ekstrom and Reed Sorenson, who will drive in the upcoming events at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Pocono Raceway, have piloted the car.
Said has nine Sprint Cup starts at the road course, including one top-five finish and two top 10s. His best finish of third came at the 2005 race.
Reed Sorenson will drive the No. 83 this weekend at Indianapolis and at Pocono later this month.
