Parrott named crew chief for Ambrose

Todd Parrott will be the crew chief for Marcos Ambrose and the No. 9 Stanley Tools Ford for the team currently known as Richard Petty Motorsports.
Parrott, a 26-year NASCAR veteran, started as a crew chief in 1996 with Dale Jarrett at Robert Yates Racing and won the Cup title in 1999. He most recently worked with Elliott Sadler at RPM.
Parrott is looking forward to forging a new relationship with Ambrose, 33, who returns to Fords for his third full season in Sprint Cup.
“I’ve been spending time with him dating back to (the race at) Kansas or Fontana,” Parrott said. “We’ve been talking, working on communication. He’s been coming over here, getting fitted for seats. He has some ideas of what he wants, what he’s looking for so the conversations between us have been very good.
“Once the dust settles and the smoke clears it will all be good. The cars continue to get better. The simulation programs are better. Just look at how the (RPM Nos.) 9 and 43 (of AJ Allmendinger) ran on Sunday at Homestead. I can’t wait to get started.”
