Martin Truex Jr. spins as Brad Keselowski runs out of fuel

The first 45 laps of the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway were uneventful, but that changed on Lap 46.

Martin Truex Jr., who was running second in the race, was under Clint Bowyer when he spun his No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota entering Turn 3 to bring out the first caution of the race.

The spin happened at a fortuitous time for Brad Keselowski, the race leader. Seconds before Truex spun, Keselowski appeared to be out of fuel. Up until that point, Keselowski was the only leader who hadn't pitted.

But under caution, Keselowski was able to nurse his No. 2 Team Penske Ford back to pit road for fuel and tires as the race neared the one-quarter distance mark.
