Jeb Burton signs Turner Truck deal

Turner Motorsports has enlisted second-generation NASCAR racer Jeb Burton to run in the Camping World Truck Series for the 2013 season.

Burton, son of 2002 Daytona 500 winner Ward Burton, signed a two-year contract with Turner Motorsports. The 20-year-old will also make a limited run in the Nationwide Series during that span.

"I'm really proud that I can race for Turner Motorsports over the next two years," Burton said in a team press release. "This team has had so much success, and I'm happy to have the opportunity to work with such a quality team."

The Halifax, Va. native made his truck series debut at his home track of Martinsville Speedway in March. His first top 10 finish on the tour came at Charlotte in spring when Busch finished eighth in the No. 27 truck with veteran crew chief Mike Hillman.

Turner Motorsports was feted on Monday night after the organization won its first truck series title with 22-year-old James Buescher, who is expected to graduate to the Nationwide Series full-time next season. Burton is just the latest ingénue recruited by team owner Steve Turner.

Turner added that Burton’s father will assist in the company’s driver development program.
