Hunter-Reay still angry over Tagliani incident

Published Aug. 29, 2012 8:45 p.m. ET

There might come a day when Ryan Hunter-Reay forgives Alex Tagliani for running into him at Sonoma.

It probably won't be anytime soon. Hunter-Reay is too busy trying to salvage the IndyCar championship.

Contact with Tagliani ruined a podium finish for Hunter-Reay at Sonoma on Sunday, and it dramatically hurt his chances to chase down Will Power for the series title. The incident was a 23-point swing for Hunter-Reay, who is trails Power by 36 points with two races remaining.

Tagliani says he apologized to Hunter-Reay, and will continue to do so until it is accepted.

Hunter-Reay says he has to focus only on the race Sunday at Baltimore and what he needs to do to win the title.
