Greg Biffle confident ahead of milestone 450th Cup start

The Roush Fenway Racing driver made his first career start in NASCAR's top series on April 28, 2002 at Auto Club Speedway, finishing 13th.

"It's kind of amazing how fast the time goes by," said Biffle. "I remember my 300th start; we did a deal at Martinsville a few years back. It seems like it was last year or the year before, but it was 150 starts ago and that is a long time. It amazes you how fast it goes, and I've got a lot of great memories, wins, close races and fun times."

Since that first Sprint Cup start, the former XFINITY and Camping World Truck Series champion has amassed 19 wins, 88 top fives, 169 top 10s and 12 poles in Sprint Cup competition.

"Some highlights that stand out for me over the years are finishing second in points (in 2005), winning four races in Michigan and winning Ford's 1,000th win on Father's Day," Biffle said. "My 450th start falls on the perfect weekend, Memorial weekend for the Coca-Cola 600 while honoring my Mom's cousin with his name across the windshield of our Ortho Ford."

One week after winning the opening segment of the Sprint Showdown to advance into the Sprint All-Star Race, Biffle's No. 16 Ford has continued to show speed throughout Coca-Cola 600 practice and qualifying.

Biffle will start fourth in Sunday's race, the highest of any Ford driver. Despite the speed, Biffle believes his Matt Puccia-led team still has some work to do before racing 600 miles on Sunday.

"We still have to get our car to run in the race and we're still having a little difficulty with that," Biffle said after Thursday's qualifying run. "We experienced that in the All-Star Race, qualifying second and then fell back through those 25-lap segments. This is a little bit different build of a car, but it still had qualifying speed like we did at the All-Star Race, so that's a lot of confidence."
