Jon Fogarty emerged from a highly competitive qualifying session on Friday with the pole for the Grand Prix of Miami at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Fogarty led the Daytona Prototype class with a lap at 112.415 mph on the speedway's 2.3-mile, 11-turn road course. He'll drive in Saturday's event with Alex Gurney.
Last year's race winners, Memo Rojas and Scott Pruett, will start second after qualifying at 112.137 mph. The duo also won the 2010 Daytona Prototype driving championship.
Less than a second separated the top seven cars in the Rolex Series' headlining class.
