The IndyCar Detroit Grand Prix has resumed after being stopped for a little more than 2 hours because of poor track conditions.
A red flag sent drivers to pit row while repairs were made, putting epoxy in the many gaps in the track.
Chunks of asphalt and concrete came lose on the Belle Isle track that hadn't hosted a race since 2008. Pot holes and grooves that were recently filled with tar became exposed.
Scott Dixon was leading the race midway through the scheduled 90-lap event that was shortened to 60.
