Danica goes country — and Hollywood

Published Sep. 17, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

In her first full season on the Sprint Cup circuit, Danica Patrick has gone pedal to the metal for thousands of miles, trying to prove she's like one of the boys behind the wheel. Turns out she's a lot more like than the boys than we thought.

NASCAR's golden girl will co-host the American Country Awards with country star Trace Adkins live on FOX on Dec. 10. The show will take place at the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas.

And her boss is ready!

In stock-car racing, Patrick has found plenty of mentors in the form of drivers like Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Tony Stewart, the owner of her current team. And the same will hold true on the awards circuit.

While this will be her first time headlining the ACAs, Adkins has overseen the show since it began four years ago. Last year, his sidekick was Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth.

But Danica knows her way around awards shows.

Patrick says she's become a fan of country music since she joined the NASCAR circuit, and she's appeared in videos with Colt Ford and Miranda Lambert.

And if those videos aren't enough to prove she has the country look down, remember Texas Motor Speedway?

And she's even got Adkins shakin' in his boots. "I can't wait to see if I have what it takes to keep up with this racing superstar," the Grammy-nominated singer told NASCAR.com.

But his sidekick thinks he'll do just fine.

"I have no doubt he'll be able to keep up with me. I've become a huge fan of country music since I came to NASCAR," she told the association's web site. "This is going to be a really cool experience and I'm excited to be a part of it. It's going to be a great show!"

Adkins' new album of Celtic-infused Christmas carols, ''The King's Gift,'' comes out Oct. 29.
