Rain washes out Sprint Cup qualifying, Kyle Busch on pole

JOLIET, Ill. (AP) Qualifying for the Chase for the Sprint Cup opener at Chicagoland Speedway has been rained out.

The lineup for Sunday's race will be based on the playoff seeding, meaning Kyle Busch will be on the pole and Brad Keselowski will start second. Denny Hamlin will start third, followed by Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards.

Rain started falling at midday and wiped out the only scheduled Sprint Cup practice at the 1.5-mile asphalt oval before scheduled qualifying Friday night.

Officials were still hoping to hold Friday night's Truck Series race. It marked the third straight year Sprint Cup qualifying was rained out at Chicagoland.
