Yanks' Giradi ejected for arguing with umpire

Published Jun. 6, 2010 8:39 p.m. ET

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi was ejected in the eighth inning of Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays for arguing with home plate umpire Bruce Dreckman.

Girardi came out to argue after Dreckman called outfielder Nick Swisher out on a check swing with runners at second and third and the Yankees trailing 2-1.

It was the second time in three at-bats that Swisher had struck out; he was caught looking at an outside pitch in the third, stranding Brett Gardner's triple.

Girardi, not wearing his cap, came out and was quickly ejected. He kicked the dirt on either side of home plate and held his fingers apart in front of Dreckman's face before leaving the field.
