Marlins, Dee Gordon working on multi-year deal
Around this time of year, there are so many rumors, speculation and sources, it can be hard to keep up with.
How about a player openly talking about a contract extension? That makes things easy, right?
In an interview with MLB Network, Miami Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon said that his camp has been in talks with the club regarding a multi-year deal. Here's his quote via MLB.com:
"My agent is doing the talking. They're just keeping me in the loop. I think it's going pretty well right now. We'll see how that goes. I'm just playing the waiting game. We're going to do the right thing."
Gordon enjoyed a breakout year in Miami after spending his first four years in the league with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 27-year-old won the batting title after hitting .333 and led the league in hits (205) and stolen bases (58) in 2015.
Gordon was also a Golden Glove and Silver Slugger award last season.
Earlier this month, it was reported that the Marlins were receiving "a ton of interest" in the second baseman, but it seems as though they've changed direction.
