Henrik Stenson put himself in contention with a 1-under opening round at Oakmont, but before completing what was a diastrous second round in the U.S. Open, the world No. 7 withdrew from the event entirely.

Stenson was unable to finish his second round Friday evening, but his scorecard was ugly. Stenson carded eight bogeys and a double-bogey to drop 10 shots, and as a result was very unlikely to make the cut when he finished his round Saturday morning. Stenson didn't show up at the course to resume his round, and tweeted Saturday that he withdrew due to some minor injuries.
