Watch Tyrann Mathieu speak about his personal story

Tyrann Mathieu has forever left an indelible mark on the LSU football program.

Affectionately nicknamed "The Honey Badger" by his former defensive coordinator John Chavis, Mathieu's frenetic (and exceptional) style of play during his college days in Baton Rouge was a sight to behold.

As a sophomore in 2011, Mathieu was named as a Heisman Trophy finalist. He also was universally regarded as one of the best players in the entire country.

However, Mathieu was booted off the team for a continued pattern of failed drug tests. He later was arrested for drug-related charges.

Mathieu's colorful journey ultimately landed him with the Arizona Cardinals -- where he's become an integral cog in the machine of Bruce Arians' defense. Prior to his arrival with the NFL franchise, Patrick Peterson -- his former college teammate and current teammate with the Cardinals -- helped him out immensely. Not only did he provide a suitable environment for Mathieu to perfect his craft and prepare for the NFL combine, but Peterson also lent support as his best friend.

The all-pro corner narrated this piece created by NFL Films, chronicling the plight of Mathieu.
