Vols land top 2017 QB, five-star prospect Hunter Johnson (VIDEO)
For the second recruiting class in a row, the Tennessee Volunteers have landed the top quarterback prospect on their board as 2017 five-star prospect Hunter Johnson ends his recruitment early and pledged to the Vols on Sunday.
While he still has two years of high school football left to play, Johnson is regarded as potentially the top-overall junior player in the nation and has already racked up scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Florida State, Michigan, Florida, Penn State and Oklahoma among others.
Tennessee was the first school to offer Johnson and the relationship between the quarterback and the coaching staff has grown close over the past year.
“I’ve been in contact with Tennessee for so long now and I know so much about Tennessee, I didn’t see a reason why I wouldn’t commit,” Johnson said to 247Sports. “That’s what I told my parents, why wouldn’t I go here? I’ve always felt really, really comfortable with Tennessee.
“I really believe in (offensive coordinator) Coach (Mike) DeBord and Coach (Butch) Jones. It’s very exciting.”
Recruiting guru Tom Lemming chimed in with his thoughts on Johnson following his commitment to the Volunteers:

High praise from a high school talent evaluator with very few peers.
With Johnson now in the fold, expect Tennessee to have one of top recruiting classes in the nation for 2017. Check out his highlights for yourself and see what all the buzz is about:
