Saban on Smart speculation: Ask this soda bottle, 'but don't ask me'
With all the news surrounding Crimson Tide DC Kirby Smart, you might think Alabama's players and coaches could be a bit distracted this week.
That's not the case, according to head coach Nick Saban.
"Everyone is focused on what they are trying to do for this team," Saban said Wednesday. "The players get it and they are zeroed in for what they have to do on Saturday."
Saban did not confirm reports that Smart would be departing for the head-coaching gig at Georgia -- but he didn't deny it either with these comments.
"I told (the players) they ought to be happy for anyone who created a good opportunity for themselves," Saban said, as if there was any doubt who he might be referring to there.
The Crimson Tide head coach ended any discussion concerning his defensive coordinator by directing any further comments to his trademark podium partner, the Coke bottle.
"So you can ask the bottle, but don't ask me," Saban said.
