Texas will demote defensive coordinator Vance Bedford after the Longhorns latest defensive collapse, according to multiple media reports.

Rivals.com and 247Sports.com reported Sunday that head coach Charlie Strong will assume defensive playcalling duties.

Texas has given up 47 or more points in three of its four games and ranks last in the Big 12 in total defense and team passing efficiency defense, while forcing only one turnover this season.

The Longhorns gave up 555 yards of total offense in a 49–31 loss to Oklahoma State.

Bedford was also Strong's defensive coordinator at Louisville from 2010-13, before going to Texas along with Strong when he was hired in January 2014.

Texas (2-2, 0-1 Big 12) takes on Oklahoma (2–2, 1–0 Big 12) this Saturday, and have lost four of the last six contest against the Sooners.
