QB is hardly the only position battle raging into the fall
All eyes are certainly on the quarterback battle between Tyrone Swoopes and Jerrod Heard. The Longhorns are breaking in a new, up-tempo offense as well, and after the preposterously poor performance of last season's unit, it's no wonder that there's a jittery fandom tracking every move.
But if Texas is going to get back into Big 12 contention, it's going to need more than a quarterback to take charge.
Multiple position battles will rage into the fall camp, such as on the offensive line between freshman Connor Williams and sophomore Tristan Nickelson, between a slew of unproven receivers for basically three spots (Daje Johnson, Marcus Johnson, Jacorey Warrick, Armanti Foreman, Lorenzo Joe and Dorian Leonard), at strong safety where former walk-on Dylan Haines and Adrian Colbert have been locked in a lively competition during the spring, plus others.
Which players break out and win their individual position battles will go a long in determining the type of team Texas will put on the field in 2015.
