Penn State AD wants no part of '409' decals for Nittany Lions teams

Not everyone was a fan of the "409" decals that Penn State hockey players wore on their helmets on Friday. That includes the university's athletic director.

The stickers celebrated the restoration of 409 victories to late coach Joe Paterno's official record -- making him once again college football's winningest coach -- as part of a settlement of a lawsuit against the NCAA for its sanctions against Penn State for its handling of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse matter.

Responding to someone on Twitter who found the hockey decals in bad taste, AD Sandy Barbour tweeted her agreement.

Roundly criticized for her post, Barbour later tweeted her affirmation of respect for Paterno and expressed pleasure at the restored wins, but she also reminded everyone not to lose sight of the most important issue in the Sandusky scandal.

But Barbour apparently didn't change her stance on the "409" displays. The basketball team planned to wear T-shirts under their jerseys that bore the number for Saturday's game. But that didn't happen.
