Ohio State Football: Roundtable and Predictions vs Wisconsin

Predictions for Ohio State vs Wisconsin.

Ohio State will be on the road for a big conference game. Will the Buckeye offense get back on track after the lackluster performance against Indiana? Or will Wisconsin make it a slugfest that comes down to the end?

The contributors at Scarlet And Game will share our takes on how the game will play out and our predictions for the final score.

Thomas Scurlock:  For the first time this season, there were concerns about the offensive production and consistency.   93 yards passing and winning by only 21 points tend to worry the faithful.

Are these legitimate concerns or just grumblings temporarily heightened by one bad game? We’re going to find out how good this offense really is in Madison as the Buckeyes are facing the No. 4 ranked scoring defense, on the road, at night, in one of the loudest stadiums in the Big Ten where they have not scored 30 points or more since 1990.

On the defensive side of the ball. the Silver Bullets just need to continue playing at the same level of intensity to keep the Badgers’ scoring low.  Wisconsin’s offense ranks No. 87 in the FBS averaging 26 points-per-game, 27 less-per-game than Ohio State’s offense is averaging.

Expect the Badgers to try to establish a pounding running game, especially if the weather is rainy. The defensive line has done a great job all season controlling the trenches. They’ll give up some yards, but hold tight inside the 20 forcing field goals instead of yielding touchdowns.

Earlier in the week I reluctantly called the upset, mainly because the Buckeyes were on the road. I am changing my prediction. I expect the offense to play much better and J.T. Barrett to play his best game of the season.

Buckeyes start fast for a change and maintain the lead throughout the game winning 31-16 securing its second signature road win of the season.

Dano Opacich:  Defensive battle, but Ohio State secondary shuts down Wisconsin passing attack. Wisconsin defense tries to shut down OSU running game, but too many weapons OSU 24 WISC 17

Alex Yoder:  I think the Wisconsin defense will hold the Buckeye’s to their lowest scoring game of the year. I also think that the Buckeye defense will take advantage of an inexperienced quarterback. My prediction for the game is 28-17 Ohio State.

Hayden Wetmore:  Night games on the road are never easy. Unless you’re Urban Meyer. Urban is 20-0 in true road games during his tenure as the Buckeyes head coach.

That’s about to improve to 21-0. Look, Wisconsin is good – but they can’t beat Ohio State… Wisconsin’s offense is pitiful, and the Buckeye D is elite. Remember, you win football games by scoring more points than your opponent… And it will be hard for Wisconsin to score any points at all.

On the flip-side of the ball – the Badgers D is awesome, but the Ohio State offense is better. We saw what Ohio State’s offense looks like at its absolute worst last week, and they still put up 38. This game might have a slow start, but Buckeye Nation has nothing to worry about.

JT Barrett will throw a couple of deep balls early to soften up this Badgers D & the running game will open up. Barrett will score 4 total TD’s and become the all-time TD leader at Ohio State en route to a dominating win at Camp Randall.

Score: Buckeyes 38, Badgers 6.

Charlie Lockhart:  I’m a little more confident than most of the other guys. I think Urban Meyer had some serious talks with offensive coordinator Ed Warinner this week. Curtis Samuel will be involved early and often against the Badgers.

I don’t see Samuel touching the ball only nine times like he did against Indiana. I also see the Ohio State wide receivers making an impact which will loosen up the Badgers’ defense.

The Wisconsin offense is not going to do enough against Ohio State’s strong defense to keep it close.

    Ohio State 42-10.

There you go, that’s our picks this week.
