Ohio State closes out class with recruits from opposite ends of spectrum

Ohio State went into National Signing Day with most of the hay already in the barn, but Urban Meyer added a pair of players Wednesday morning. 

One could help early on while the other might be viewed as more of a developmental prospect to be heard from a little farther down the line. 

First the school announced the signing of Malcolm Pridgeon, a five-star prospect from Nassau Community College. 

Pridgeon is an intriguing prospect because he could jump ahead of some young linemen who were signed last year as new offensive line coach Greg Studrawa works to fill three open starting spots. 

Also joining Meyer's 2016 class Wednesday was Malik Harrison, a three-star athlete from Columbus Walnut Ridge who received an offer late in the recruiting cycle. 

At 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, Harrison could end up helping Ohio State at a variety of positions. 

His profile and his status as a three-star prospect from central Ohio beg the comparison to Darron Lee. 

With Harrison and Pridgeon in the fold, Ohio State's 2016 class stands at 25 players. 

That might be the final number that appears headed toward a top-five ranking nationally. 

In an interview with the Big Ten Network, Meyer said he was happy to have very little drama on National Signing Day. 

"It's good for the heart," Meyer quipped. 

He also spoke highly of quarterback signee Dwayne Haskins Jr. and keeping up with the changing recruiting practices that have popped up during this recruiting cycle. 

All four of Meyer's previous Ohio State recruiting classes were ranked in the top 10 nationally with the 2013 group coming in No. 1, according to Scout.
