Louisville Football: Major Praise From Dolphins' OC For DeVante Parker
Former Louisville football player DeVante Parker showed his toughness and grit in the Dolphins’ loss to the Ravens last Sunday.
DeVante Parker has been struggling with injuries ever since entering the National Football League last season. The former Louisville football player was injured in the Dolphins’ win over the 49ers a few weeks ago and was questionable to play against Baltimore last Sunday.
There were many people who weren’t expecting Parker to even suit up against the Ravens because of his past pain-tolerance. It’s not that anyone was questioning his toughness, but they were questioning when he would be at a point in his career when he would learn to fight through the pain.
When the Dolphins needed Parker to show up the most, he sucked up his pain and played in last week’s game against Baltimore.
We definitely weren’t the only people that noticed, he also got the attention of his offensive coordinator.
Take a look at this excerpt from Adam Beasley’s article from the Miami Herald:
Parker surprised Dolphins offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen by playing through significant back discomfort in Sunday’s loss to the Ravens. Parker missed all of practice last week; he was on the field Thursday, albeit in a non-contact yellow jersey.
“I’ve never questioned his wanting to play,” Christensen said. “I don’t think anyone has questioned it. This game is a hard game. I have a hard time questioning a guy’s heart. He wants to play. He plays hard. He goes in there and throws his body around. I’ve never had any reason to question his heart in this thing or his desire to play football.”
I think this is a great sign for DeVante Parker and the Dolphins’ organization. He is developing into a player that loves to be a great teammate and will do whatever it takes to win. Even the though Dolphins didn’t beat the Ravens, they should be very encouraged by what they saw from Parker.
