Jack Allen makes New Orleans Saints' practice squad
Former Michigan State All-American center Jack Allen has been signed to the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad.

People said that he was too small compared to other centers, but that doesn’t have anything to do with how he played the game. Allen is one of the toughest guys on the field at all times and he showed it during his stint in East Lansing.
This past week, the Spartan signed with the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad after playing with them all preseason long.
You might be wondering why he didn’t make the team and it’s because most NFL teams have just two centers on the depth chart and Allen was probably the third option. He can make a name for himself on the practice squad and maybe push for the 53-man roster sometime this year.
Heck, being a practice squad guy is not just a bad job. These former college stars get paid roughly $90,000 a year to take hits in practice and help the team get better. Sure, they’d probably rather be on the team, playing every Sunday, but that will come with more work.
Being an undrafted free agent is never easy. Making rosters after going seven rounds without hearing your name called is rare, but don’t count Allen out just yet.
