Is it a football game or something else Texas seeks with visit to Dubai?

When former Texas Longhorns coach Mack Brown started tweeting pictures of himself, wife Salley, plus a contingent of UT officials in the sparkling city of Dubai, immediate speculation was that they were exploring the possibility of playing a football game in the Middle East.

Just to confirm. Source says Mack and Co. are in Dubai exploring for UT athletics. Nothing official yet. @statesman http://t.co/sIagPMfCsj

While so many programs are flocking to play games in the State of Texas to gain some leverage with the state's large reserves of talented high school football players, what exactly would playing a football game some 8,000 miles away in the middle of the desert do for UT?
Even so, Texas athletic director Steve Patterson has certainly opened the door to taking the Texas brand beyond this country's borders. There's been talk about a football game being played in Mexico and the men’s basketball team will play Washington in China to open next season.
But maybe playing a football game in Dubai isn't why Brown and company made the 14-hour flight to one of the wealthiest cities in the world.
Hmm...
Don't automatically assume Texas will play a football game in Dubai. Part of the mission was fundraising. https://t.co/hlB9C8kEWX
