If Southern Miss beats Mississippi State, you could get free jewelry

Mississippi State opens on the road, as the Bulldogs will travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., to face off against Southern Miss. The game now means more than bragging rights within the state of Mississippi, as there's now free gold and jewelry on the line.

That's right, if Southern Miss can spring the upset at home and beat the Bulldogs, Carter's Jewelry Petal will refund your money on any item bought in the month of August.

Before you get your hopes up, Southern Miss went 3-9, with a 1-7 record against fellow Conference USA competition, while Mississippi State went 10-3 and won six SEC games last season. The Bulldogs are currently listed as a 23.5-point favorite in the season opener.

The game will be nationally televised on FOX Sports 1, Sept. 5 at 10 p.m. ET.
