Hawkeyes QB Beathard fighting injuries as big game looms

At this point in the season, every team in college football has injuries. It seems that this season has more injuries than normal but it is a harsh reminder that football can be unforgiving.

Iowa is certainly no exception having lost Drew Ott for the season with a torn ACL. Now their starting quarterback, CJ Beathard is said to be pretty banged up heading into the rivalry game with Northwestern:

“I felt like I would be sore certain games,” Beathard said. “Obviously, some weeks are worse than others. You wish you could be healthy all season long with nothing, but that’s just not the way football is. It’s a tough, physical game. You have to expect that.”

The biggest key here is making sure Beathard is able to still utilize both his strong arm and his legs. He won't be confused for Marcus Mariota but that scarambling element is there an keeps defenses honest.

His injuries are certainly worth keeping an eye on.
