Ducks ready to play backup QB Jeff Lockie if needed

Published Sep. 15, 2015 4:22 p.m. ET

It's no secret that Oregon QB Vernon Adams Jr. isn't playing at 100 percent right now. He is, in fact, playing with a broken right index finger, according to reports.

While Adams continues to downplay the injury, backup quarterback Jeff Lockie must be ready to step up if called upon. Offensive coordinator Scott Frost says he and the team would feel good about having Lockie at QB, if need be.

"We're always ready to play Jeff," Frost said. "I feel great about Jeff being in there if and when that happens and we'll take it as it comes."
