Drummond, Rush among Spartans looking to impress as free-agent signees

In addition to the four Spartans who were drafted last weekend, several other Michigan State football players are hoping to impress NFL teams as rookie free agents when minicamps get started in the coming days.
The most accomplished player to go undrafted was Kurtis Drummond, the 2014 Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year. The safety is headed to Houston after signing with the Texans.
Fellow defensive standouts Taiwan Jones and Marcus Rush also signed free-agent deals. Jones, a linebacker, is headed to the New York Jets. Rush was a four-year starter at defensive end for Michigan State but will try to make it with the San Francisco 49ers as an outside linebacker.
Tight end Andrew Gleichert signed with the Philadelphia Eagles while punter Mike Sadler got a deal from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Of course none of those players have the potential to be the biggest story among MSU rookies in the NFL this year. That honor would go to Arthur Ray Jr., an offensive lineman whose battle with bone cancer has served as an inspiration to many within the program and beyond. As detailed by FOX Sports Detroit, Ray has been invited to the Miami Dolphins' rookie minicamp.
