In the days since Ohio State broke the unofficial national record for spring game attendance by drawing nearly 100,000 fans to Ohio Stadium, some have wondered just what motivated so many people to come out to see a "meaningless scrimmage."
Well, what if it was not actually that meaningless after all?
In a tradition that began in Urban Meyer's first spring as head coach of the Buckeyes, the players from the losing team spent an afternoon working outside Ohio Stadium in the Buckeye Grove, home to the trees that represent Ohio State's All-American football players.
