Xavier forward Jalen Reynolds provided an early dagger as the fifth-ranked Musketeers knocked off No. 1 Villanova, 90-83, in Wednesday night's much-anticipated showdown.

Josh Hart poked the ball away from Trevon Bluiett, put it ended up right in the hands of Reynolds, who was left alone for a thunderous one-handed dunk.

That put Xavier up 73-63 with 6:25 remaining. Reynolds finished with 11 points and four rebounds.

Xavier, which avenged a New Year's Eve loss to Villanova, improve to 13-3 in conference, trailing the Wildcats by only a half game.

This marks Xavier's first win over Villanova since joining the Big East in 2013.
