Wofford roars back to top Georgia Southern, 74-61

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) Karl Cochran scored 29 points to help Wofford storm past Georgia Southern in the second half for a 74-61 victory Thursday night.

Georgia Southern held an eight-point lead at intermission, 35-27, and extended it to a dozen points barely three minutes in to the second half. The Terriers took the lead on Cochran's jumper with 5:51 left, 56-55, then padded the lead with back-to-back 3-pointers to spark a 20-6 run to close out the game.

Spencer Collins scored 19 points for Wofford (12-10, 7-3, Southern) and Lee Skinner added 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. The Terriers shot 50 percent from the field (28 for 56) and were 6 of 17 from long range.

Jelani Hewitt scored 21 points to lead Georgia Southern (11-13, 4-5), with Angel Matias adding 11 points, nine rebounds and three steals. The Panthers shot just under 43 percent (23 for 54).
