Ben Smith scored 17 points and Garrett Stutz had 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead Wichita State to a 67-58 victory over Colorado on Thursday night.
The Shockers (2-0) took the lead for good with 7:43 left in the first half. They led 33-26 at halftime and maintained a five to 10 point lead for most of the second half.
Colorado (1-1) made it 53-49 with 7:46 remaining. But Wichita State responded with five consecutive points, and then put the game away late with another 5-0 run.
The Shockers outrebounded Colorado by 10 in the second half. Carlon Brown led the Buffaloes with 15 points. No other Colorado player scored in double figures.

Wichita State will meet Alabama in Friday's second round of the 5-Hour Energy Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
