Richie Gordon and Harouna Mutombo scored 16 points each to lead Western Carolina to an 85-63 victory over Samford on Saturday.

Mike Williams and Trey Sumler added 14 points each for the Catamounts (13-13, 9-5 Southern Conference), who shot 55.2 percent from the floor (37 of 67) to win their fourth consecutive game.

Western Carolina led throughout, extending its advantage to 25-10 on Gordon's three-point play with 9:26 to play in the first half.

Keaton Cole's 3-pointer gave the Catamounts a 32-12 lead with 7:06 left before halftime, and they led by at least 13 points in the second half.

Western Carolina, which is 9-0 at home this year, outrebounded Samford 33-26 and had 19 assists to only six turnovers.

Mutombo added eight rebounds.

Jeffrey Merritt scored 17 points to lead Samford (12-14, 4-10), which lost for the fifth time in six games.
