Just two years after taking Utah to the NCAA tournament, Jim Boylen has been fired as the Utes head coach.
According to multiple sources, Boylen was informed of the decision on Saturday morning.
Boylen, 45, was 69-60 in his four years in Salt Lake City — but the Utes struggled over the past two seasons, winning 14 games two seasons ago and finishing 13-18 this season.
Boylen was a former NBA assistant who also spent time on Tom Izzo’s staff at Michigan State. He replaced Ray Giacoletti.

Boylen was given a five-year extension following the 2009 season.
