Isaiah Sykes had 23 points and Keith Clanton scored 20 as Central Florida beat Alabama State 85-56 Tuesday night in nonconference action.
UCF (2-0) shot 36 of 65 for the game and led by as many as 41 points in the second half.
The 6-foot-5 Sykes used his size advantage to repeatedly drive the ball to the basket against the outmanned Hornets. He hit 10 of 14 shots and had seven assists.
Clanton overpowered the Hornets big men around the basket, scoring most of his points on layups and dunks. He was 9 of 10 from the field and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Luther Page led Alabama State (0-3) with 11 points and five rebounds. Joshua Freelove added 10 points.
Sykes had eight points and an assist in the last seven minutes of the first half as the Knights went on a 17-3 run to open up a 40-25 halftime lead.
